Valton Murray

Valton Murray is a native of Warren County where he was born and raised in Mesena, Georgia in the early 1950’s. Challenged by his battle with polio and epilepsy as an infant, Valton Murray spent many hours sketching and drawing while in the hospital. He taught himself how to mix paints in order to capture the vivid natural colors of the wooded areas surrounding his family home – each a vision of life in the South as he knew it. Valton has been honored by Governor Zell Miller, Georgia Power, Kennedy Performing Arts Center/Grand Central Station in Washington, D.C. and the House of Blues.  Stop by Genuine Georgia to see Valton Murray’s wonderful paintings on display – folk art at its finest.
